FAQ

Q. What is Orange County Community Foundation Social Innovation Fund?

The purpose of OCCF’s Social Innovation Fund is to support nonprofit innovations that advance social and economic wellbeing in Orange County.

OCCF established this program in 2019 in partnership with Orange County philanthropists and entrepreneurs willing to support the best new ideas and cutting-edge solutions. Now in its second year, this program is open to all nonprofits serving Orange County who have a program that is in alignment with the purpose of this fund.

To qualify an organization needed to present a program which meets one of the following criteria:

  • They are ready to start a new program implementing an innovative idea to solve an existing problem.
  • They will bring an innovative program operating in another part of the state/country to Orange County.

The Social Innovation Fund review committee received more than 70 proposals and after careful review narrowed it down to the top six which are being featured during the Demo Day.

Q. What is the Social Innovation Fund Demo Day?

The Demo Day is modeled on the pitch sessions of the venture capital community where promising startups present their plans to potential investors. Our Social Innovation Fund offers venture-oriented philanthropists the opportunity to support innovative solutions to some of our community’s most urgent needs.

Six nonprofits will be presenting their innovative program, and participating philanthropists will be invited to support the programs that are in alignment with their interests. Support can be provided by credit card through this website, and donations can also be mailed directly to the Orange County Community Foundation.
